Yesterday, Dacia unveiled it’s all new Spring Electric which is supposed to be the cheapest electric car in Europe (the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is cheaper but it’s a “mobility instrument” or technically a quadricycle : Limited in power, maximum speed and with only two seats).
It’s 3.73m long (~12.2ft) which is similar to the Renault Kwid !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the interior seems closer to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! than !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
The battery pack is small at 26.8kWh, the engine 33kW (44hp) and 125Nm of torque but because it’s a small battery it can be fully charged in less than 14 hours on a domestic 220v plug and less than an hour to have 80% with a wallbox.
The autonomy is 225km on the WLTP cycle and 295km on the WLTP City cycle which is decent for a cheap small city car that is supposed to be massively used for car-sharing platforms on urbans areas.

I was just showing this to my wife. At the supposedly low price, I'd consider buying one. Except I'm in North America. And they likely will never sell it here.

Any word on the estimated price. The market is so devoid of low end electrics on this side of the Atlantic a deal with, say, FCA dealers could actually make a single model Dacia import scheme viable.

Electrek was saying somewhere around 10,000 Euros. Not sure where they got that from.

FCA is the wrong group but it could be imported as a Nissan or Mitsubishi.
The price has not been revealed yet but it’s supposed to be around 15k€ including VAT (20 %), knowing that there is at the moment up to 5k€ in subsidies for an electric car so we could have the car for some 10k€ including taxes .

They might import it for ride-sha ring platforms like they did try with some PSA cars and also with the Tweezy some years ago.
There is also the possibility of it rebadged as a Nissan or Mitsubishi.

One model makes rarely do all that well here so maybe a rebadge for a struggling automaker like Mitsubishi could generate lots of dealer traffic even if just to look at them at such a low price.

It is possible. I think Mitsubishi could really benefit from it as there is basically no reason to go to a Mitsubishi dealership except to buy used so that would generate lots of traffic in the door. Where they could probably upsell an Outlander Sport or something.
